If you’ve ever worn  prescription eyeglasses, you are more then familiar with the torture of having to spend hundreds of dollars each time you have to get a new pair. If you’re as clumsy as I am, it’s probably because you squashed your brand new $400 frames for the second time this month . So you can imagine my excitement when I first heard about CheatersReadingGlasses.com. Cheaters has the most amazing prescription glasses I’ve ever seen ; their Computer Reading Glasses and PowerDot Bifocals are just remarkable, and when I saw this article about my regular cheap summer sunglasses, I started using Cheaters for my summer sunglasses too!

“Grabbing a pair of sunglasses from the supermarket as part of packing preparation is a matter of routine for most people going on vacation . After all, why spend loads of money on designer shades when we’re likely to sit on them, leave them in a cafe or get them scratched on some exotic beach? According to a recent survey, nearly three-quarters of drug store or gas-station sunglasses failed to meet safety standards .

The consumer group tested dozens of pairs of sunglasses from drug store and gas station counters across the East coast. They found 15 of the 21 pairs did not pass laboratory tests. The study warned this could cause eye problems such as headaches and double vision . They also said sunglasses marked with the wrong prescription can aggravate astigmatism.

Although all the sunglasses tested kept out UV rays, many of the pairs had irregular tinting which was shown to be significantly dangerous for driving or opperating machinery such as boats or jet-ski’s , because it would affect the person’s vision so as to create a hazardous situation.

Health expert Joanna Pearl said: “While these problems would not cause permanent vision damage, some of them would be unpleasant for the wearer and could really compromise their safety. Glasses must comply with the standards they clearly claim to meet on the label.”

After seeing a article like that, I really have to say that I will never grab a cheap pair of sunglasses when I’m at a drug store ever again! I’ll stick with CheatersReadingGlasses.com, and get all my prescription eyewear online from now on. I just got my computer reading glasses today, and my eyes feel  better already!
